Maurice Murphy is Founder and Senior Partner of TMT Legal, a technology, media and telecommunications consultancy in London. He advises clients on complex commercial transactions, corporate and governance matters, and intellectual property issues including exploitation and enforcement. With respect to communication issues, he has advised on major telecom transactions including M & A, JVs, interconnection/licensing arrangements, and license bids. He has provided telecom/broadcasting regulatory advice and interface with regulators and decision makers in Europe and elsewhere. He regularly advises on antitrust and competition law matters. Previously, Mr. Murphy was a Partner and Chair of the TMT practice at the law firm of Watson, Farley & Williams. Before that, he was Partner and led the TMT practice at the law firm of SJ Berwin. Prior to that, Mr. Murphy spent 12 years in various senior in-house roles, including at Equant, Bell Cablemedia, Mercury Communications, Energis and National Grid. (This is me - Update Profile)

It appears that the European Commissioner, Vivianne Reding, has reached a compromise with her fellow Commissioners on her plan to regulate roaming. The resultant rules, while somewhat watered down from the original proposals, are still harsh for mobile operators and will reduce revenues and profits from an area which has been very profitable.
