Council Member Biography

Subrata De, PhD, is Former Head of Core Network Evolution and Strategy at Vodafone Group, Global Technology, Germany (until 3/08), the largest global wireless carrier. He was responsible for planning and deployment of GPRS and 3G technology in Europe, Japan, and Australia and led the strategy & technical articulation of Fixed Mobile Convergence initiatives (DSL, 3G, WiFi) in Vodafone leading to Femto cells in the industry. He specializes in advanced mobile and wireless technology in the core and transmission networks, and strategy and guidance on network investments planned over a 1-3 year period. He is experienced in managing the optimization of core and transmission network investments. He has been invited to be the keynote speaker at international conferences and forums, including the UMTS Congress in London, the IMS Business planning Conference in Brussels, and IMTC in Germany. He founded and chaired the Vodafone Group Core Network Heads Forum. (This is me - Update Profile)
