UMA (Unified Memory Architecture)

When an IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor) is employed in a PC, it needs memory (sometimes called a frame buffer). One of the benefits of an IGP is the reduced cost realized by eliminating a separate frame buffer, and to replace that extra memory a portion of the PC’s main or system memory is used for the frame buffer. When that is done the organization is known as a unified memory architecture.
