Analysis
Despite all the high-sounding talk, the reason so many different factions are coming together on this issue is still MONEY. The insurance industry would just love to have the government take over responsibility for children's health care, and remove that area of potential losses from their books. But they stop short of supporting a single payer system a la Medicare, because, after all, there is no money for them to make in that model.
The insurance industry continues to siphon off a growing percentage of health care dollars for overhead and profits, while not adding value to the health care system. As long as they remain in the loop, there is no hope of giving all Americans effective and affordable coverage.
