They talked about recapitalization, fleet mix, in-house technical management, chartering strategy, steamlined GA costs and the new management team. Their new focus is on dry cargo and product trades. They have dropped in six additional units from GrandUnion and recapitalized with US$ 36 equity and US$ 182 mio new debt. Let's evaluate.

Hunt Transport Services Inc. announced that its already successful “Secret Formula” for Intermodal success will henceforth include much more of a current ingredient, one known as “NSC” or Norfolk Southern Corporation, which reported Intermodal revenues for this year’s 1st nine months of just slightly less than JBHT’s $1.2 billion of Intermodal biz. for the same three quarters.

Financially troubled YRC Worldwide is closing its 202-door Richfield, Ohio, breakbulk terminal, one of the largest in its system. The move is part of YRCW's downsizing, and affects about 1,000 Teamsters at three Ohio terminals. About 400 of those 1,000 Teamsters already are laid off.

FFA dispute between Marine Trade, Luxembourg, Pioneer Futures, China and Armada of Singapore ended up in London court for US Dollar settlement under the terms of FFABA master agreement. It is unclear in the article if the trade went through Oslo's Imarex and NOS clearing. Due to precipitous drop in baltic indices during 4Q08, 1Q09 such cases became common. FFAs a channel that was promoted as risk management tool for freight contracts has failed to achieve its very fundamental purpose for users.
