Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is voice communication over an internet protocol (IP) network, such as the internet. The voice is converted to a digital signal, which is sent through the internet, and then converted back to a voice. There are three ways to make VoIP calls today: ATA (Analog Telephone Adaptor), IP Phones, and computer-to-computer. Many service providers offer unlimited long distance for a monthly fee and free calls if using the computer-to-computer option.
