Introduction

Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) Councils (www.glgcouncils.com) are industry- and discipline-focused networks of consultants, physicians, scientists, engineers, attorneys, market researchers and other professionals from around the world. GLG Council Members enable decision-makers at investment firms, corporations and non-profit organizations to better understand the products, services, companies, issues, and industries on which they focus. On an annual basis, GLG coordinates thousands of in-person meetings and events as a core mechanism for interaction between Council Members and clients.

GLG's Live Meetings team manage and leverage Gerson Lehrman Group's core asset - members of the Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) Councils - to participate in small-group meetings, educational Seminars, and Webcasts, among others, with clients and prospective clients. The in-person and online experience is managed by the Live Meetings team who help shape a brand that continues to set Gerson Lehrman Group apart from competitors. The Live Meetings team is responsible for programming compelling meetings with the world's most notable experts and managing all surrounding logistics.

Within the Events Team, Events Specialists lead and manage calendars of events for second-tier GLG practice areas and/or assigned segments of larger practice areas. These events that take place with regular frequency in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, London and Hong Kong, among other cities. The Events Specialist works independently at the direction of a Senior Events Manager or Events Manager, and typically directs the activities of shared support resources, such as Event Coordinators.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage event calendars and planning process for the assigned practice area or market segment
  • Perform required administrative tasks, including managing overall budgetary expenditures of assigned practice area(s)
  • Ensure administrative tracking of venue spend
  • Coordinate all Events activities and projects with GLG counterparts in our Research and Council teams
  • Supervise the organization and delivery of GLG events in the assigned practice area
  • Manage event, client and Council Member information through the GLG website and online meeting management system, including maintaining receipts, and submitting event expenses in a timely manner

Candidate Profile:

Potential candidates possess:

  • Up to four years of post-undergraduate experience, preferably in an events management capacity
  • Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated proficiency in oral, writing and presentation abilities in a business-focused setting using a variety of communication channels (telephone, e-mail, in-person, etc.)
  • Successful track record working in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities effectively, while ensuring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Interest in building an Internet-driven business
  • Demonstrated fluency in using technology tools to improve effectiveness and increase efficiency
  • A degree from a top-tier university or equivalent work experience

Evaluation, Compensation and Benefits:

Following is an initial estimate of compensation and benefits for this position. The final compensation structure depends on many factors and these numbers are subject to change.

Salary: Competitive base salary plus year-end performance-based discretionary bonus

Vacation: 15 days per year plus New York Stock Exchange holidays
